| Pilmeny Development Project Pilmeny Development Project (PDP) has been operating in the Lorne Area of Leith since 1979. It is managed by local residents and is funded by COE Council and its own fundraising efforts. It employs two community workers, a part time administrator and a part time bookkeeper. The overall aim is 'To support local residents and groups and to encourage appropriate self help initiatives towards the identification and resolution of their problems'. PDP works principally with Young People, Older People and Adults (e.g. Tenant's / Resident's groups, Women's Groups, minority ethnic communities). It offers local groups, agencies and individuals personal help and resources to enable them to deliver improved services. The Project seeks to work in complimentary ways to enhance and ensure the delivery of quality provisions for the area. PDP manages a small community resource centre at No. 15 Buchanan Street (available for hire) and youth clubs/ activities at Pilmeny Youth Centre, 44 Buchanan Street. PDP works in partnership to develop specialist or discrete provisions which could not be offered by one single organisation. PDP also assists with the setting up and development of new initiatives, undertakes community consultation work, needs assessment and assists with monitoring and evaluation of services. Currently, PDP manages two NHS Funded initiatives - 'Link for Life' NE Edinburgh Ageing Well Project (50+ Peer Mentors) and Leith Young Persons' Health Project.
