  Pilton Community Health Project

The Pilton Community Health Project, established in 1984 and based in the North of Edinburgh, uses a community development approach to enable local people to identify their health needs and in response to these, works with them to tackle the issues which affect their health, for example, by campaigning or developing local resources and services.

The Project works to the objectives laid out in the local Health Plan,"Our Health Matters", which was drawn up after a major community consultation exercise.

Objectives

1 To alleviate the high levels of stress experienced by local people.

2

To identify, tackle and improve the life circumstances that underlie poor health.

3

To ensure local equity of access to health related services, resources and information.

4

To alleviate the high levels of isolation and loneliness experienced by older people.

5

To promote and support healthy patterns of living and healthy environments.

6

To ensure people receive support and have the opportunity to explore feelings associated with loss and bereavement.

7

To address issues relating to food poverty and healthy eating.
